How to pack parcels for international shipping
Updated Oct 1, 2026 · prices pulled live from the UCargo price list

International parcels go through many rounds of handling, X-ray scanners and trucks. Packing properly keeps your goods from being crushed, broken or leaking, helps them clear customs quickly — and even lowers the shipping fee thanks to a compact box.
4 basic layers of protection

- 1Wrap each item: zip bags for food and cosmetics; bubble wrap for fragile items.
- 2Padding: shredded paper, foam peanuts, bubble wrap — if nothing moves when you shake the box, you're done.
- 3A sturdy 5-ply carton that fits the goods snugly; don't reuse old boxes that are damp or dented.
- 4Tape an H pattern on both the top and the bottom of the box.
Liquids: fish sauce, perfume, medicated oil

- Liquids must be tightly sealed, packed in a foam box and then an outer carton.
Liquids carry a per-parcel surcharge by air. Perfume and nail polish are flammable — always tell our team first.
Weight and size limits
- Each air parcel is up to 22kg (22–39kg carries a 1,386,000₫/parcel surcharge; over 39kg not accepted).
- Parcels longer than 119cm or with any side over 70cm carry a 1,056,000₫/parcel surcharge.
- Oversized shipments not accepted: over 68kg (actual or volumetric weight ÷ 5000), longest side over 273cm or girth over 418cm; no delivery to Hawaii or Alaska.
Each route has its own limits — UCargo staff will advise on splitting parcels at pickup.
Tips to lower the shipping fee
- Vacuum-seal clothes and blankets.
- Choose a snug-fitting box — the fee is based on the larger of the actual weight and the volumetric weight.
- Combine your goods into one shipment: parcels over 20kg have a much lower price per kg.
